Michael Balboni appointed President of Adelphi University

Michael Balboni, JD assumed the presidency of Adelphi University on June 1. 2026. Balboni had served as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Adelphi University, having served on the Board for more than seven years.
A seasoned public official, Balboni served as New York State Senator from 1997 to 2006. He was then appointed Deputy Secretary for Public Safety, and he was designated as the Homeland Security Advisor to the Governor. He was appointed to the New York State Responds Commission in response to Superstorm Sandy, and he served as a trustee of the New York Power Authority. Balboni was also the executive director of the Greater New York Health Care Facilities Corporation, and president and managing director of Redland Strategies, Inc.
He has served as Of Counsel to the Long Island based law firm, Rivkin Radler LLP.
Balboni earned his JD from St. John's University School of Law.
