On July 18, 2024 Louisiana Supreme Court Associate Justice James Genovese was named the 21st president of Northwestern State University. Genovese has served on the Louisiana Supreme Court since 2017 and worked as an attorney for 21 years before he was appointed as a judge in 1995. He has no higher education experience. He earned his J.D. from Loyola New Orleans School of Law.
Judge Genovese will succeed President Marcus Jones, who is also a lawyer.
